Commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, the Museum of Modern Art of New York (MoMA) hosts a major exhibition reflecting upon the attacks of September 11, 2001, The exhibition brings together nearly 70 works of art, mostly made prior to 9/11, to reflect upon how the attacks have altered the ways in which we see and experience the world and will remain on view through January 9, 2012.
In addition, the Centre of Contemporary Culture of Barcelona (CCCB) in Spain and the National September 11 Memorial & Museum (USA) have prepared an installation by artist Francesc Torres. Simultaneously it will be presented at the International Center of Photography–ICP in New York and at the Imperial War Museum in London.
This installation presents a series of photographs of the area used for the preservation of material removed from Ground Zero at the World Trade Center. Images of destroyed fire engines and police cars, bits of buildings converted into compressed magma, objects from shops, twisted pieces of steel and, even, a Calder sculpture that is equalled with all the other materials.
