The Chilean Museum of Fine Arts hosts the exhitibion Degas sculptor. Impressions of modern life, which will be running until October 30.
The show, presented in Chile for the first time, reunites 73 original bronzes that belong to the Sao Paulo Art Museum Assis de Chateaubriand MASP (Brazil) and that are considered the largest collection in the Southern Hemisphere.
Degas' sculptures are set within an ancient artistic tradition that tried to capture life and movement from inert and motionless objects. Degas associated the dancers' movement to the eternal values of the classical world. In contrast to the idealization an exoticism that his precedent artists gave to figures, Degas, in line with Impressionists, gave to his figure "the trace of modern life, the soul of life".

Place: Chilean Museum of Fine Arts. Parque Forestal s/n.Santiago de Chile. Casilla 3209. Chile.
