At the end of 2007 the Belgian photographer Jérôme Latteur began a series devoted to the Centre for Fine Arts in Brussels (Belgium). The building was designed in the 1920s by Victor Horta and has lost none of its beauty since then. Latteur drew inspiration from the Centre for a series of photographic diptychs. Dreamlike interiors in black and white alternate with monochrome pictures that zoom in on material textures.
The result is a subtle and unusual way of looking at Horta's elegant and detailed architecture. Latteur used natural light as far as possible and has printed the photographs using a silver-based technology, without any digital intervention. Working in the laboratory remains of vital importance for him.
The Diptych Series exhibition is made up of eight diptychs on display in the foyers adjoining the Henry Le Bœuf Hall. It is one of a series of monographic photographic exhibitions organised every year by the Centre for Fine Arts (BOZAR).
