The Louvre Museum (Paris, France) inaugurates tomorrow The Forbidden City at the Louvre. China's Emperors and Kings of France. This exhibition walk visitors through objects and collections from Chinese emperors. A total of 130 works have been loaned from the Museum of the Forbidden City. Visitors will be able to make a tour through eight hundred years of history form the Yuan Dinasty to the dawn of the modern age.
Organized in three main areas, The Forbidden City at the Louvre analyzes the diplomatic exchanges between France and China in the halls of history of the Louvre museum. The medieval Louvre area and model room hosts the fortified architecture of the Forbidden City. Finally the imperial collections are addressed at the Richeliu gallery.
The exhibition features portraits of the principal Chines rulers along with personal items, weapons and outfits that will give visitors an insight into the intricacies of the Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1911) dynasties.
