The Albertina Museum (Viena, Austria) hosts an exhibition of its best collection of contemporary art, a selection of about 120 works from its extensive and ever-growing collection that will be running from May 26 to August 18, 2012.
The show focuses on artists like Gerhard Richter, Georg Baselitz, Anselm Kiefer, Markus Lüpertz, Jörg Immendorff, and Alex Katz, as well as great contemporary artists such as William Kentridge, Robert Longo, and Raymond Pettibon. The Austrian artists Arnulf Rainer and Maria Lassnig will be also part of the exhibition.
Founded in 1776 by Albert von Sachsen-Teschen, the Albertina Museum has always being interested for contemporary art, which can be seen in the artworks of its permanent collection. The exhibition delves into the backgrounds of contemporary art of the museum and provides detailed information about this period in art history.
