The Musée d’Art Moderne Grand-Duc Jean (Mudam) in Luxembourg presents an exhibition devoted to Croatian photographer Sanja Iveković. Ivekovic, a central figure on the Croatian art scene, has developed an engaged artistic practice since the early 1970s, animated by questions of genre, media, identity, and the public and private spheres.
Her exhibition at Mudam – a decade after her unprecedentedly controversial public space project Lady Rosa of Luxembourg, which addressed the often-overlooked role of women in wartime – will present a large panorama of her works realised from 1975 to the present. The show will be running through September 16, 2012.
In 2009, Ivekovic was the winner of the Camera Austria Award as photography was recognized as an integral part of her conceptual work. The jury mentioned the topicality of her work and its significance for the younger generation as well as her social and political commitment to enhancing the role of women in society through works such as "Women's House".
