On August 5, 1962, Marilyn Monroe was found dead at his home in Los Angeles from an overdose of barbiturates. The legend was born, a sex symbol immortalized a thousand times in the art world: from the prints of Andy Warhol to the photographs of Lawrence Schiller, the diva's angelic face and voluptuous body would become icons of twentieh century art.
On the 50th anniversary of her death, we pay our particular tribute with a selection of Marilyn portraits painted by our artists. Because, despite the passage of time, Marilyn continues to shine brightly.
