Independently of its permanent collection, the Bilbao Fine Arts Museum regularly organises temporary exhibition programmes. Now its guest work is Oak in the Snow by Caspar David Friedrich.
From 19 April, visitors will be able to see Nationalmuseum's (Stockholm, Sweden) extensive collection of French 19th-century art presented in a new way. The exhibition charts the modern way of living that emerged during that period and how it influenced art.
The Kunsthaus Zürich (Switzerland) will be exhibiting, through December 16, 2012, six bronze sculptures and a terracotta figure by Aristide Maillol which have been restored over the last twelve months. Alongside Auguste Rodin, Maillol is considered the most important French sculptor of the early modern era.
The National Gallery of Art (Washington, USA) has made possible the acquisition of Etude (1969) by Simon Hantaï (1922–2008), from his series of the same name. The museum has also acquired, for its collection, works on Paper by Andy Warhol and Robert Heinecken.
On June 12, 2012, the Museo Thyssen-Bornemisza (Madrid, Spain) will present the exhibition 'Edward Hopper', to be shown first in Madrid then in Paris. It will bring together the largest and most ambitious selection of works by the US artist ever to be shown in Europe.
