The Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art  (Edinburgh, United Kingdom) launches the first in an annual series of exhibitions devoted to the Scottish Colourists. The Scottish Colourist Series: FCB Cadell is first major retrospective of his work to be held in a public gallery in almost seventy years and brings together almost 80 paintings, from collections across the UK.

The National Museum of Western Art (Tokyo, Japan), in collaboration with the Museo del Prado, presents in Japan Goya: Lights and Shadows. Masterpieces of the Museo del Prado. The exhibition features a selection of oil paintings and drawings, 72 in total from the Museo del Prado in Madrid, along with 51 prints from the collection of the NMWA and other museums in Japan.

The Museum for Modern Art in Zürich (Switzerland) is staging the first-ever exhibition of masterpieces from the private collection of the Nahmad family. This show, entitled Miró, Monet, Matisse. The Nahmad Collection, features more than 100 paintings by Miró, Picasso, Matisse, Kandinsky, Monet, Magritte and many others.
