The Museum of Contemporary Art in Monterrey (Mexico) presents, until November 20, a selection of works by sculptor Jorge Elizondo, which showcases three decades devoted to stone carving.
With the name Jorge Elizondo. The voice of my hands, the exhibition brings together 35 pieces of an artist who materializes in black marble, steel and bronze his perception and interpretation of the world around him: the real, the imaginary, the world itself, the immediate and the universal.
The artist has used mainly Monterrey marble throughout his whole career, which has allowed him to play from a very light gray to deep black, emphasizing the shape in his sculptures. The main issues addressed in his work are the frailty of human nature, the cosmos, the conception of existence and the quest for divinity.
Jorge Elizondo. The voice of my hands includes sculpture in marble and metal as well as drawings, sketches, videos and an installation that will be shown throughout the exhibition with the participation of MARCO’s visitors.
