Sometimes a wave just seems to speak to you - waves of words - as these waves did with for me. The light in the sky captured the translucent waves as they crashed to the shore, sending spray and sparkles with their poignant messages. To look at this painting draws you in and then, wait for the words to come.
Painted in oils on a deep side canvas with painted sides to tone enabling the piece to be hung immediately without the need of a frame. With a palette of blues, emerald green, and soft pinks for the clouds and many tones of white. The brush work is mainly smooth but with some added texture to the waves to give depth and interest in a unique technique, and finally varnished.
Awareness of the sea in all the seasons is my inspiration, experimenting with the weather, light and windswept places.
