The Joan Miró Foundation, (Barcelona, Spain) presents Joan Miró. The Ladder of Escape, the most comprehensive exhibition of Joan Miró's work to be seen in Spain in the last twenty years. The selection is a revision of a period of nearly sixty years. It testifies to Miró's sensibility and his reaction to the events that marked the history of the twentieth century.

The Louvre Museum (Paris, France) presents an exhibition curated by a Greek and French team of specialists, which brings together five hundred works tracing the history of ancient Macedonia from the fifteenth century B.C. up to the Roman Empire.

The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen (Rotterdam, The Netherlands) is showing the paintings of Jan van Eyck, long considered the father of oil painting.

The Grand Palais Museum organizes, in collaboration with the Petit Palais, Musée des Beaux-Arts de la Ville de Paris and with special support from the Musée d’Orsay, Paris, the exhibition Cézzane and Paris, that will be on show at the Musée du Luxembourg until February 26, 2012.

Tacita Dean is the next artist to create a commission for Tate Modern's Turbine Hall (London, United Kingdom) as part of the Unilever Series. Dean will be making a new commission especially designed to respond to the architecture of Tate Modern's Turbine Hall. The Unilever Series has become renowned as one of the most exciting and impressive contemporary art exhibitions in London each year.
